We're Kirksey ...creating superior, sustainable architecture through innovative thinking, exceptional design and unmatched client service in an environment that fosters the professional growth, fulfillment and financial success of the firm and our employees. We have followed this mission since our founding in 1971. Team Structure What began as a small commercial architecture firm 37 years ago has evolved into a diverse organization of more than 140 design professionals belonging to 11 architectural teams, each focusing on a particular business segment (see Portfolio link for individual Teams and Projects). It is this diversity of project types that allows us to provide our clients a full complement of services carried out by experts whose knowledge and talents best match our clients' business strategies and objectives. People & Culture In an economy where changing jobs every two to five years is the norm, we have to offer more to retain the best and the brightest. Our culture fosters the free flow of ideas, rewards ambition, and empowers individuals, giving rise to employees that view Kirksey as a career. It is this opportunistic "sky is the limit" philosophy toward individual professional and personal development that results in many long-term employees at Kirksey. Some have spent the better part of their architectural careers here, which is almost unheard of among today's architectural firms. "It is very likely that Kirksey's leaders of tomorrow are right here working today," says John Kirksey. In the Community Kirksey has created a successful vehicle- the Outreach Committee-for employees to contribute positively to our communities. The Committee volunteers with worthwhile projects and programs such as Escape Family Resource Center, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Houston, Inc. and Neighborhood Centers Inc.'s Adopt an Angel program. Kirksey has led more than 60 volunteer projects benefiting the community, a majority of these programs impacting over 1,250 children.. An annual Outreach event that targets several neighborhoods throughout Houston is the Kirksey Tree Planting. Rather than sending holiday gifts to our clients and friends, the firm chooses to plant trees in their honor each December. Begun in 1987, this program has allowed the firm to plant 7,130 trees throughout Houston, within such communities as Hidalgo Park on Buffalo Bayou in the Second Ward, and on South MacGregor Way in the historic Third Ward of Houston.
